Aaliyah Dana Haughton burst into fame in 1994, after she released her debut Album Age Ain't nothing but a Number. Her album, which was made available at just fifteen years old it went Gold. R. Kelly heavily influenced this collaboration, and helped to bring the artist to the forefront. In 1996, she collaborated with Jermaine Dupri and Timbaland to record her follow-up album One In A Million which contained the number-one hit single If You Only Knew. Aaliyah gained international recognition as an R&B artist with the release of her sophomore album One In A Million. Aaliyah was a part of the legendary martial artist Jet-Li in Romeo Must Die (2000), an action and romance film. Her role came about following an interview with director Joel Silver at an awards show. In 2002 she got to appear in the vampire flick Queen of the Damned which was an adaptation of the Anne Rice novel. Then she was introduced to the Matrix by playing Zee in The Matrix Sequels having also appeared in The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 as well as The Matrix Revolutions in the same year. However, she has also used Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. She started her acting career in minor film and TV performances, but her fame grew during the middle 2000s. Her other notable projects include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. She has appeared in numerous commercials including Volvo's international car producer. She continues her acting career at Los Angeles, where she lives with her son and husband.
